The Brella Day
Welcome
We welcome every child with warmth and positivity. At drop-off you’ll be greeted by one of your child’s teachers and will have a moment to share any important updates or information.
Goodbyes can sometimes be hard, so we’ve worked with experts to design a transition process that supports both the child and the family. Check out our separation guide for ideas on how to prepare for your visit.
guided learning
Throughout the day, children participate in guided activities around our monthly theme. These teacher-led activities focus on educating the children around a specific topic while also developing important skills from pre-literacy, to communication, and collaboration. Often these experiences build upon prior day experiences to add continuity to the learning process.
Independent Exploration
Each day includes moments of independent exploration and play during which children are free to engage in different classroom stations including innovation, dramatic play, and early literacy. In these moments, children engage with a variety of materials prepared to encourage open-ended exploration. The freedom to navigate the classroom supports the child's development of independence, initiative, and social skills.
Stem (Science, technology, engineering, & math)
At Brella, children are investigators. From scientific experiments to woodworking to robotics, children learn the scientific method through real life experiences. Through engaging and age-appropriate activities, children gain an understanding of mathematical, chemical, physical, biological, and technological concepts.
studio art at brella
This multi-media classroom experience encourages children to create collaborative and individual pieces using a variety of tools and materials. From paint to clay to weaving to collage, children explore early artistic principals, color theory, and develop gross and fine motor skills.
Music at brella
Music at Brella introduces children to the beauty and diversity of musical genres, instruments, and experiences. Children learn early musical principals through regular live music performances at our center. During interactive classes, children become part of the composition by acting out the music, adding their own instruments and rhythmically moving their bodies.
garden play at brella
Children visit our garden daily to tend to our plants, engage in water play, participate in messy art and enjoy time in the fresh air.
Movement at Brella
Children have many opportunities to run, play, climb and move at brella. On our playground children test their skills on our playground climbing structure, throwing balls, or racing scooters. Our dedicated movement studio offers classes from soccer to martial arts to dance and yoga (all included at no extra cost). All children at Brella visit these spaces several times a day.
